It's a bottom-up approach that affects not only internal company policies but also those of our vendors. Surface Art asks all vendors to sign a statement of Environmental Commitment which explains how their factories or manufacturing processes address materials recycling, energy consumption, and waste mitigation.   Look for the Green Focus Certified seal on those products which meet Surface Art's rigorous requirements - and that's nearly 90% of our products!   Our Distribution Center   Surface Art Tile   Earthwerks Luxury Vinyl     At the Surface Art distribution center, broken tile is recycled and used later in roadbeds . We recycle all of our plastics, wood, cardboards and packaging. We reuse all of our crates and pallets for shipping.   Your choice of Surface Art Porcelain Tile is one of the friendliest flooring choices you can make for your home.  It is also one of the greenest because it is made from all-natural materials in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. We do not use manufactured petroleum or wood-based products with our Porcelain Tile.   All of our factories use the latest recycling methods in the production of the tiles. They all recycle the water and use the latest technologies to maximize energy production and efficiency. Many of our tiles are made with recycled products in the body. Others are made with by-products from other tiles made at the facility. Broken tiles are ground and used to make new tiles.   Nearly every product in our Earthwerks Luxury Vinyl line is made from at least 20 to 50% post consumer recycled material, and is completely recyclable. Even more important, every Earthwerks Luxury Vinyl product is manufactured in modern, energy efficient facilities that are certified to be ISO 9001-200 and ISO 14001:2004 compliant.   Earthwerks products shown with the G4L Mark make it easier for you to recycle them too.
